Public bug reported:
After a normal system restart, Ubuntu failed to boot and dropped into
initramfs. The system was unable to detect the internal NVMe SSD during
boot.
Inside initramfs:
/dev did not contain nvme or sd devices
/proc/partitions did not show the NVMe drive
However,
BIOS correctly detected the SSD (Micron_2400_MTFDKBA512QFM~512GB)
Booting with an older kernel from GRUB works normally and the system detects
the disk without issues
6.17.0-23-generic is my current (working) version of Ubuntu (validated via
uname -r)
24.04 is the release (validated via lsb_release -rd)
Expected Behavior: System should detect NVMe SSD and boot normally
Actual Behavior: System cannot detect storage device and drops to intramfs
Workaround: Booting into an older kernel from GRUB allows the system to
start normally
