Public bug reported:

After upgrading all desktop icons are gone.
Content of folder "${HOME}/Desktop" is not displayed any more.
No right- or middle-click on desktop menus, while settings are set to enable 
them.
Switching desktops by mouse wheel does nothing, regardless of desktops 
configured and shown.
