Public bug reported:

None of my generic-kernels want to boot anymore, from 6.8.0-31-generic
up to including 6.17.0-29-generic.

They wait for cryptsetup, but never ask for the password to unlock the
device so it will fail after a timeout.

The only way I can boot is via a mainline kernel.

$ cat /etc/crypttab
dm_crypt-0 UUID=e3c01b4b-61c7-4b96-b7c2-c73d35fae898 none luks

$ sudo blkid /dev/nvme0n1p8
/dev/nvme0n1p8: UUID="e3c01b4b-61c7-4b96-b7c2-c73d35fae898" TYPE="crypto_LUKS"
PARTUUID="036de033-cf9b-446e-83f6-8304d58eb322"

$ cat /etc/cryptsetup-initramfs/conf-hook
ASKPASS=y

(I have also tried with CRYPTSETUP=y, no change)
