I'm experiencing the exact same issue on a different hardware configuration, with extensive troubleshooting performed. Adding my findings to help narrow down the root cause.
**System Information:** - Distro: Ubuntu 26.04 - Kernel: 7.0.0-15-generic (Ubuntu), also tested 7.0.9 mainline — same issue - CPU: 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700H (Raptor Lake-P) - GPU: Intel UHD Graphics (Raptor Lake-P GT2 [8086:a7a1] rev 04), i915 driver - NVIDIA RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (PRIME only, not used for display output) - Display server: Wayland (GNOME Shell / Mutter) - Monitor: HDMI-A-1, 2560x1440 @ 120Hz (single monitor setup) - HDMI is physically connected to Intel GPU (not NVIDIA) **Symptoms:** Identical to this bug report — HDMI monitor goes black intermittently. No signal detected by the monitor. The freeze happens randomly, sometimes 5+ times per minute. VT switch or monitor power cycle recovers it. Kernel log shows ZERO events during the blank — no HPD disconnect, no link status change, no DRM errors. The kernel does not even notice the display went away. This strongly suggests a hardware-level signal loss rather than a software/DRM state issue. gnome-shell logs show repeated cursor update failures: gnome-shell: Cursor update failed: drmModeAtomicCommit: Invalid argument **What was already tested (NONE helped):** Kernel parameters (all tried individually and combined): - enable_psr=0 — no effect - enable_dc=0 — no effect - disable_power_well=0 — no effect - enable_hpd_poll=0 — no effect (also reported as unknown parameter on kernel 7.0) - enable_dsb=0 — no effect - enable_panel_replay=0 — no effect - enable_dpt=0 — no effect Display configuration: - Resolution 1920x1080 — still blanks - Resolution 2560x1440 — still blanks - Different refresh rates (60Hz, 120Hz) — still blanks Hardware: - Different monitor — still blanks - Power conditioner/UPS — still blanks - New HDMI cable — pending (ordered HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed) Kernel versions tested: - 7.0.0-15-generic (Ubuntu) — blanks - 7.0.9 mainline (kernel.ubuntu.com) — blanks - 7.1-rc4 mainline — could not boot (Secure Boot issue, not relevant) **Key observations:** 1. The HDMI blank happens at the physical signal level — the kernel sees no disconnect/reconnect event 2. This affects ONLY the HDMI output (no DP/USB-C to test) 3. The issue is not resolution-dependent (1080p and 1440p both affected) 4. No i915 module parameter combination resolves it 5. iwlwifi (Intel AX101 CNVi WiFi on same PCH) also has severe stability issues (Microcode SW error, ADVANCED_SYSASSERT, RFIm deactivation) on the same platform — possibly related PCH silicon issue This bug severely impacts daily usability. Any attention from Intel i915 maintainers would be greatly appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2148269 Title: [regression][6.17 HWE] Secondary HDMI monitor freezes while primary DP monitor continues working - Intel i915 Raptor Lake To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-6.17/+bug/2148269/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
