Hi Lukas,

Thank you for the thorough report and especially for the detailed "Bug
details" document — the structured testing matrix (kernel params,
firmware update, Xorg mode toggle, single monitor test) is exactly the
kind of evidence that helps us narrow this down quickly. The fact that
BIOS/UEFI displays correctly over USB-C rules out a hardware or cable
issue, which is very helpful.

Before this can be escalated further, could you please update fully to
the latest Noble HWE kernel and retest? Your report was filed against
6.17.0-22-generic, while Noble currently has newer 6.17 point releases
available (the current version is 6.17.0-29.29~24.04.1), and DRM/amdgpu
display fixes land frequently in HWE updates.

Please run:

  sudo apt update
  sudo apt full-upgrade

Then reboot and confirm the running kernel with:

  uname -r

After rebooting, please test whether the green line corruption still
appears on the GDM login screen when using USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode.

If the issue still occurs on the latest kernel, please also attach the
following outputs:

  sudo journalctl -b -1 | grep -iE 'gdm|drm|amdgpu'
sudo dmesg | grep -iE 'amdgpu|drm|display'

This step is critical — if a newer kernel already fixes it, we can
determine whether SRU tracking or closure is appropriate. If it persists
on 6.17.0-29+, we can then more confidently determine whether this
belongs primarily in the kernel/amdgpu stack, Mesa, or the GDM/Mutter
display initialisation path.

Thanks again for your patience and detailed troubleshooting.
