Public bug reported:
The Ubuntu package xserver-xorg-video-vmware 13.4.0-2build1 appears to
be built without BUILD_VMWGFX enabled.
A comparison between:
* xserver-xorg-video-vmware 13.4.0-1build1
* xserver-xorg-video-vmware 13.4.0-2build1
shows that the newer package no longer links against libxatracker,
libdrm or libudev and contains the runtime string:
"Driver was compiled without KMS- and 3D support."
The upstream 13.4.0 source tree still contains the vmwgfx code path, XA
support, DRI2 support and DRI3 support.
The attached report contains the collected evidence and comparison
results.
This appears to cause a regression where the package is built in legacy
mode without vmwgfx/XA/DRI functionality that was present in the
previous Ubuntu package revision.
The issue appears to be related to packaging changes introduced after
the removal of libxatracker-dev from the build dependencies, but it is
not clear whether this was intentional or an unintended side effect.
Tested on Xubuntu running inside VMware Workstation 12.1.
The previous Ubuntu package revision provides vmwgfx functionality,
while the newer package appears to be built in legacy mode.
