Public bug reported:
This concerns lightdm 1.32.0-6ubuntu4 in Ubuntu resolute.
In /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/01_debian.conf, there is a line that sets
greeter-hide-users=true
However, the list of users appears in the lightdm-gtk-greeter GUI
dialog, because of a
greeter-hide-users=false
line in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf . That line is added by ubuntu-enable-
listusers.patch in the source package.
Not least because the /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file appears to have
higher precedence than the files under /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/, the
greeter-hide-users=false setting should be added to
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/02_ubuntu.conf, rather than patched into the
main config file.
(I want to use greeter-hide-users=true, and at present cannot make that
setting effective via a lightdm.conf.d/*.conf file.)
