Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 26.04 (Resolute) with GNOME 49.

Problem:
Nautilus "Open in Terminal" does not work.

Observed behavior:

* Right-clicking a folder in Nautilus and selecting "Open in Terminal" does
nothing.
* xdg-terminal-exec fails to detect any valid terminal.
* Both GNOME Terminal and Ptyxis are installed and work correctly when launched
manually.

Commands tested:

xdg-terminal-exec --print-id

Output:

No valid terminal entry was found in:
/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/:/usr/share/applications/:/usr/local/share/applications/:/usr/share/gnome/applications/:/usr/share/ubuntu/applications/:/home/semih/.local/share/applications/

Additional observations:

* gnome-terminal launches successfully.
* ptyxis launches successfully.
* gtk-launch org.gnome.Terminal works.
* Desktop files exist:

/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop
/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Ptyxis.desktop

Debug output (XTE_DEBUG=1) shows:

matching path for entry ID 'org.gnome.Terminal.desktop'
matching path for entry ID 'org.gnome.Ptyxis.desktop'

However xdg-terminal-exec never proceeds to read or select either
terminal entry and eventually reports:

No valid terminal entry was found

Expected behavior:
xdg-terminal-exec should detect GNOME Terminal or Ptyxis and Nautilus "Open in
Terminal" should open a terminal window in the selected directory.

ProblemType: Bug

 SHELL=/bin/bash
 TERM=xterm-256color

UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)

Additional diagnostics:

gnome-terminal works normally.
ptyxis works normally.
gtk-launch org.gnome.Terminal works normally.

However:

xdg-terminal-exec --print-id

returns:

No valid terminal entry was found

The following desktop entries exist:

/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop
/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Ptyxis.desktop

Both entries contain TerminalEmulator category and terminal argument
definitions.

XTE_DEBUG=1 output shows:

matching path for entry ID 'org.gnome.Terminal.desktop'
matching path for entry ID 'org.gnome.Ptyxis.desktop'

but xdg-terminal-exec never reads or selects either entry.
