I did another test, to see what happens if I attach the external screen,
then reboot, then wait until the "3 minute freeze" is over, and then
reboot again (with the external screen always attached):

As expected, the "freeze" did not happen again, because the screen
configuration did not change since the previous boot.

After this, I executed "journalctl -b0 > journal_no_freeze.txt". ----->
See attachment.

-- The most interesting part is between "Adding new display..." and
"Display server started.":

Jun 07 17:54:45 mlaptop sddm[1991]: Adding new display...
Jun 07 17:54:45 mlaptop sddm[1991]: Loaded empty theme configuration
Jun 07 17:54:45 mlaptop sddm[1991]: Using VT 1
Jun 07 17:54:45 mlaptop sddm[1991]: Display server started.

-- For comparison, if the "3 minute freeze" happens, it looks like this:

Jun 01 20:12:04 mlaptop sddm[1944]: Adding new display...
  ---!!! Tons of unexplainable errors. !!!---
Jun 01 20:16:11 mlaptop sddm[1944]: Loaded empty theme configuration
Jun 01 20:16:11 mlaptop sddm[1944]: Using VT 1
Jun 01 20:16:11 mlaptop sddm[1944]: Display server started.

-- If you have any idea why this "freeze" happens, please let me know.
