I did another test, to see what happens if I attach the external screen, then reboot, then wait until the "3 minute freeze" is over, and then reboot again (with the external screen always attached):
As expected, the "freeze" did not happen again, because the screen configuration did not change since the previous boot. After this, I executed "journalctl -b0 > journal_no_freeze.txt". -----> See attachment. -- The most interesting part is between "Adding new display..." and "Display server started.": Jun 07 17:54:45 mlaptop sddm[1991]: Adding new display...
