Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 26.04, booting Xen with multiboot2 on x86_64 EFI platform hangs in GRUB. Serial/Display output is stuck at
Loading Xen 4.20-amd64... Loading Linux 7.0.0-22-generic... Loading initial ramdisk... The root cause is that GRUB bugs triggers #PF,causing panic in EFI firmware. The controls are not handled to Xen. I've purposed upstream changes fixing the issue at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gnu-grub/grub/-/merge_requests/122 (Merged) https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gnu-grub/grub/-/merge_requests/141 And requesting a backport in current 26.04 LTS release to fix that issue. The packages I installed and observed the bugs are: xen-system-amd64 4.20.2+7-g1badcf5035-2build2 grub-efi-amd64 2.14-2ubuntu2 Other users also mentions this issue https://askubuntu.com/questions/1567362/how-to-run-properly- xen-4-20-over-ubuntu-26-04lts-to-provide-to-vms-passthrough ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2155816 Title: Unable to boot Xen on Ubuntu 26.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/2155816/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
