Public bug reported:
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a Wi-Fi Hotspot via gnome-control-center (Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Turn
On Wi-Fi Hotspot).
2. Enforce WPA2 security via terminal:
nmcli connection modify Hotspot wifi-sec.proto rsn
nmcli connection modify Hotspot wifi-sec.pairwise ccmp
nmcli connection modify Hotspot wifi-sec.group ccmp
3. Bring the connection up.
4. Open gnome-control-center again.
Expected result:
The UI should accurately display "WPA2" based on the actual NetworkManager RSN
configuration.
Actual result:
The "Security Type" label simply displays "WPA".
Additional info:
Verifying the beacon frames with an external Wi-Fi Analyzer tool confirms the
network is correctly broadcasting as WPA2 (CCMP) only. The issue lies purely in
the gnome-control-center UI, which seems to blindly hardcode the "WPA" string
whenever the key-mgmt is set to wpa-psk, completely ignoring underlying
NetworkManager RSN/CCMP parameters. This misleads administrators into thinking
the network is using deprecated protocols.
