> not having updated dependencies in all things that depend on it was
one of the central elements
It's not all things, really. The affected paths need to have:
- "bare" unversioned dependency on a virtual package (A depends B)
- pulled in via a Recommends (X Recommends A, transitive - so say X Recommends
Y Depends A also)
I don't know how many there are; it may just be qemu-kvm. The normal way
to express dependencies on packages is:
preferred-provider | virtual-package
For qemu-kvm this was special cases: qemu-kvm itself was a virtual
package provided by a single package. Since there's now two packages
it's not reliable anymore.
Given that libvirt-daemon-driver-qemu{,-hwe} are part of the stack
making it pick the right qemu from its own stack rather than send the
solver down a wild goose chase seems like a good idea.
