Wade tested on Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 and the version from edge works.
I tested on Ubuntu 24.04 and agree that the issue is resolved by the fix.

However, both of us noticed there is no log indicating that kerberos ignored a 
directory that was included but unavailable.
I think at minimum, a WARNING log should be added to indicate that so if people 
are investigating it points them to the correct place.

In addition, since files are generated in that directory when joining
Ubuntu to AD using `realm join`, I think a separate bug should be opened
to resolve kerberos issues in snap for that scenario.
