Public bug reported:
The postinst script on noble now does a bare touch on /var/run/reboot-
required without writing an explanation, which would be acceptable (but
arguably unfriendly) if it also did an "echo apparmor >> /run/reboot-
required.pkgs". The dbus postinst script is an example of one that does
the latter, for reference.
This was introduced recently in the noble SRU on 13 April 2026, in the
package version 4.0.1really4.0.1-0ubuntu0.24.04.6 in response to LP:
#2148074
It appears the change was to resolve a problem with nautilus and yet
fires when it's not installed, which adds insult to injury because the
unexplained reboot requirement is also bogus.
