Public bug reported: OS: Kubuntu 26.04
Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new file in GIMP. 2. Create a text layer in the file. 3. Type some arbitrary text into it. 4. Save the file. 5. Close GIMP. 6. Open the file. 7. Using the Text tool, click inside the text layer you created. Expected result: The text should be editable. Actual result: The pixels from the text are still visible, but the text itself seems to have vanished (the cursor won't move into the text area). Typing anything in the text layer will cause all existing text to vanish and be replaced with new text. It is impossible to undo to get the original text back, one must close the file without saving and re- open it.
