yesterday i updated the driver to one from proposed https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/gutsy/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/2:2.1.1-0ubuntu9.1 .
that first solved the massive mode probes output every few seconds and so i got a "very clean" & small xorg.0.log but today my hopes got smashed back to reality, since i got 10 crashes in a row and the mode probes are also there again, maybe there is some relation. see my new log. the crashes stopped after i quickly deactivated the hardware cursor before the next crash by Option "SWCursor" "1" but that also deactivates DRI & AIGLX and so huge parts of the driver&X. but i will try out this option for the next days, maybe plain 2D + software cursor is more stable for this bug. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log.old" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11474287/Xorg.0.log.old -- [gutsy] X crashes randomly - something with cursors?
