Thanks Sanjeeva, This is a helpful deep analysis already!
But this part makes me wonder and stop: > If possible, please forward to upstream QEMU maintainers or reference net_tx_pkt.c and e1000e_core.c in the bug. Usually the affected report the cases upstream - because they would not fall apart on the first question saying "well it isn't my case I can't answer". Especially with a setup like yours, not everyone even has the ESXi environment needed to reproduce it is important that you can be part of the conversation. Same with patches, especially due to copyright, ownership and such. They would usually be sent/suggested there by the author. Your patch comes without any of that - someone forwarding this for you would be unable to declare authorship. We see a name here, but your account has "No public address provided." in launchpad, so even someone that would forward it for you couldn't do so properly attributing it to you. Patch submission for qemu is still using email [1]. But if you are uncomfortable with that the project is somewhat open to more: you can report bugs at [2] and add the suggestion there. The latter even has a test pipeline which might help to get some confidence [3] Getting an alignment with upstream on this not only gives it more review and confidence, it also helps to keep the package from diverging too far to stay maintainable. If you end up filing a bug or starting an email submission please report here so we can link and track it.
