Hi bigscoots,

Thanks for taking the time to submit a report and helping to improve
Ubuntu.

Since you have a known good Ubuntu kernel version, it would be helpful
to narrow down which version introduced the issue.

We had some notable stable updates to dentry bookkeeping pulled into
kernel versions 6.8.0-100-generic, 6.8.0-106-generic, and
6.8.0-110-generic.

To start, please try installing 6.8.0-106-generic, booting into it, and
re-running your testing with that version. It can be installed with the
following apt command:

$ sudo apt install linux-image-6.8.0-106-generic linux-
modules-6.8.0-106-generic linux-modules-extra-6.8.0-106-generic linux-
headers-6.8.0-106-generic

Once you reboot, use `$ uname -r` to verify the correct kernel is
loaded.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Noble)
       Status: New => Incomplete
