Public bug reported: driverctl fails to apply udev overrides. I believe the root cause is that the package installs certain files into /
I used driverctl to specify that certain pci devices should use the vfio driver. This created files in /etc/driverctl.d. However on rebooting, the overrides didn't seem to work. When I inspected the files installed by the package it looks like there are 3 problems: 1) systemd service file is in / 2) udev rules are in /rules.d instead of /etc/udev/rules.d 3) a script vfio_name is installed to / $ dpkg -L driverctl /. /[email protected] /etc /etc/driverctl.d /rules.d /rules.d/05-driverctl.rules /rules.d/89-vfio-uio.rules /usr /usr/sbin /usr/sbin/driverctl /usr/share /usr/share/bash-completion /usr/share/bash-completion/completions /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/driverctl /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/driverctl /usr/share/doc/driverctl/changelog.Debian.gz /usr/share/doc/driverctl/copyright /usr/share/man /usr/share/man/man8 /usr/share/man/man8/driverctl.8.gz /vfio_name ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 26.04 Package: driverctl 0.115-2build1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 7.0.0-22.22-generic 7.0.0 Uname: Linux 7.0.0-22-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.34.0-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass Date: Tue Jun 30 07:53:03 2026 InstallationDate: Installed on 2026-06-15 (15 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 26.04 "Resolute Raccoon" - Release amd64 (20260420.1) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=C.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/bash TERM=xterm-256color XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> RebootRequiredPkgs: Error: path contained symlinks.
