Hi, got the same error here: Installation of Kubuntu 7.10 (alternate install cd) freezes while loading module "ide-floppy".
Last entry concerning this issue is: "kernel: [ 482.240000] ide-floppy driver 0.99.newide" "hw-detect: insmod /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/ide/ide-floppy.ko" A "ps aux" gives: 6083 root 508 D modprobe -v ide_floppy Tried to stop it with "kill 6083" and kill it with "kill -9 6083" but it does not react to this signals. A perhaps related bug is: While booting up a bug is announced after "hda: max request size: 128KiB".
