I nominated the 7.0 kernel here as well, since I'm hitting an evidently similar issue on Resolute on my ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15. However, in my case, I only started seeing this on Questing. (but I was using Xorg prior to Questing, so that could have been relevant in my case).
I have provided some more verbose info on what I have found in this upstream issue: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/work_items/5394#note_3546072 Running Ubuntu 26.04 (7.0.0-27-generic). (It was also occurring on Ubuntu 25.10 with our 6.17-based kernel.) I usually observe this when my laptop is connected to an external monitor via DP alt mode. Laptop screen will freeze completely, but external monitor continues to work, as does everything else on the system for a few moments. Trying to drag windows from the frozen monitor to the external monitor will continue to partially work, but eventually will start breaking (ex: artifacts will start appearing, gnome menus for alt+tab will start freezing in place, shutdown menu will be empty). Background audio and related things usually still work at this point, but many odd things will be failing (ex: won't be able to switch to virtual TTY, seemingly can't even use sysrq+reisub). I only first captured some dmesg output that seems possibly relevant a couple days ago, which was printed within a few minutes of when the error occurred (I did not catch that the error condition had happened since I was only interacting with my external monitor at first): [24076.056392] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dc_dmub_srv_log_diagnostic_data: DMCUB error - collecting diagnostic data [24076.288041] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dc_dmub_srv_log_diagnostic_data: DMCUB error - collecting diagnostic data [24076.518883] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dc_dmub_srv_log_diagnostic_data: DMCUB error - collecting diagnostic data [24086.631908] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* [CRTC:364:crtc-0] flip_done timed out Seems to usually happen when Steam, Discord, and/or Spotify are open. Anecdotally, it also seems to be exacerbated sometimes when I launch a game and do a bunch of tabbing over to other applications while it is in the background. Requires a hard poweroff once it repro's. So far, I have not been able to reproduce it when I disable PSRR via amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 (which was suggested here), so that might be a helpful datapoint and workaround for others impacted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2047154 Title: [amdgpu][drm] *ERROR* flip_done timed out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-6.2/+bug/2047154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
