Public bug reported:
SRU Justification
[Impact]
The Corechips SR9900 support currently existing does not support all features,
for
example ethtool does not work in the current state. The r8152 driver supports
all
features and is compatible with the Corechips SR9900, but it currently does not
list
Corechips SR9900 as one of the recognised devices. The table of supported
device IDs
in the r8152 driver needs to be updated to include the VID:PID of SR9900 in
order to
bring support for all features of the SR9900 to Pi.
[Fix]
Pull the fix from upstream Raspberry Pi tree (rpi-7.0.y branch):
- e94c4f7e7fb48 r8152: add vendor/device ID for CoreChips SR9900
[Test Plan]
* Compile tested
* Boot tested
* No impacts to existing features found
Install the built packages, reboot the machine and the SR9900 should be
supported by
ethtool. Unplug all Ethernet cables other than the one going into the SR9900,
and
network access should work.
[Regression potential]
Relatively low, as change is from upstream and modifies no code (only adds a
device
ID).
