Public bug reported:
System: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
The fingerprint daemon (fprintd) crashes intermittently with SIGABRT.
Hardware:
- Laptop: Acer Swift Go 14
- Fingerprint sensor: FPC L:0000 FW:1425045 (USB ID: 10a5:a305)
Observations:
- The fingerprint sensor is detected correctly.
- Fingerprint enrollment exists.
- `fprintd-verify` successfully returns "verify-match".
- Despite this, the service occasionally crashes and Ubuntu displays "Sorry,
Ubuntu 24.04 has experienced an internal error."
`systemctl status fprintd.service` shows:
- Active: failed (Result: core-dump)
- Main process terminated with SIGABRT
The logs contain messages such as:
- libfprint: ERROR
- Bail out!
- fpc_evt_cb error
The issue started after updating the system. Other system functions
appear to work normally.
