HI,

I can confirm this after resuming from sleep state on HP nx9020 (Intel
82852/855GM) with the intel driver, though not the default one. I'm
using the latest posted here:

http://www2.eng.cam.ac.uk/~pcjc2/ubuntu/xserver-xorg-video-
intel_2.1.1-0ubuntu10~bwh4.pcjc2.4_i386.deb

because with the default intel driver my system freezes totally on
resume. There is another under gutsy-proposed, but has a lower version
number, so I'm sticking with this one.

After resuming I can see only the password field and after logging again
all windows are transparent or I can see them only after mouse-over.

Workaround for me is disabling the following in /etc/default/acpi-
support :

# Should we save and restore state using the VESA BIOS Extensions?
#SAVE_VBE_STATE=true

# The file that we use to save the vbestate
#VBESTATE=/var/lib/acpi-support/vbestate

If you are like me and see for a second on resuming a green screen you
can disable the following, too:

# Should we attempt to warm-boot the video hardware on resume?
#POST_VIDEO=true

I haven't noticed other side effects.
