The core issue is that the epoch on the transitional snap package isn't a genuine version marker — it's an artificial number bump whose only function is to defeat pin-priority and force the snap wrapper back in, regardless of what the user has explicitly configured. Combined with unattended-upgrades not respecting that configuration, the result is a package silently reinstalling itself against clearly stated user preference, with no prompt, no notification, nothing. That's not a version conflict, that's a deliberate override mechanism dressed up as one. I'd expect this kind of forced behavior from a proprietary platform, not from a Linux distribution.
