Public bug reported:
Display brightness and Night Light do not work after booting kernel
7.0.0-28-generic.
Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS
Hardware:
Lenovo ThinkPad T570
Intel HD Graphics 520
Working kernel:
6.17.0-35-generic
Broken kernel:
7.0.0-28-generic
The brightness value changes correctly in:
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/actual_brightness
For example, brightnessctl reports that brightness changes between 10%
and 80%, but the physical LCD brightness does not change.
The issue occurs under both Wayland and Xorg.
Night Light also has no visible effect.
Booting kernel 6.17.0-35-generic restores both brightness control and
Night Light.
