After updating to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with kernel 7.0.0-28-generic, the
laptop screen brightness no longer changes.
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 5558
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5500 (i915)
The brightness OSD appears and the brightness slider moves normally.
The values in /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness and
actual_brightness change correctly (e.g. from 1023 to 51), but the actual LCD
backlight brightness does not change.
The issue started immediately after the kernel update.
