Also confirming this regression on Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon (desktop
setup).
Behavior:
The system initiates shutdown properly, monitors power off, and systemd reaches
poweroff.target (verified via journalctl). However, the tower remains powered
on (fans spinning and LEDs on). Right before screen-blanking, a brief "hogged
CPU / CPU stall" warning is triggered, pointing to an ACPI / driver deadlock
during the final power-down sequence.
Additional Observation:
If forced to reboot via SysRq (REISUB) and immediately shut down right after
booting, it powers off normally. The issue occurs consistently after the system
has been active and running workloads for a while.
Workaround:
Rolling back to kernel 6.17.0-40-generic completely resolves the issue.
