** Description changed:

- Due to major contributions and API rework, it made sense to switch to a new
version v2.0.0.
+ This is a "[needs-packaging]" request for a new package:
+
+ Based on this request (original request see below the separator) and comment
#1, libzpc2 has been packaged from upstream v2.0.1
(984fd5bbdd8fc95e6874956eaa3701e54a165c1b - "New libzpc version 2.0.1"),
producing two binary packages:
+ - libzpc2-provider (s390x only): the hbkzpc OpenSSL 3.x provider module
+ (zpcprovider.so), replacing the removed shared-library API.
+ - libzpc2-tools (all architectures): the zpckey key-management CLI tool.
+
+ The new source package "libzpc2" reflects upstream's major version
+ (2.x), there is no libzpc2 shared library, since upstream 2.0.0 removed
+ the shared-library API entirely, this is a breaking change in v2. The
+ only binaries are the two listed above.
+
+ As per bug description, libzpc (1.5.0) and libzpc2 (2.0.1) are intended
+ to be published in parallel for Stonking and the following short-term
+ releases, with libzpc (1.5.0) droppable starting around the next LTS,
+ Ubuntu 28.04, since existing libzpc1/libzpc-dev consumers need
+ continuity while the ecosystem migrates.
+
+ Build/test status
+ ------------------
+ Test-built successfully in ppa:fheimes/lp2160132 on all 5 major architectures
(amd64, amd64v3, arm64, ppc64el, s390x):
+
+ - lintian: clean on both, the source package and the binary packages
+ (DEBs) on all archs; no errors
+
+ - debian/copyright: audited directly against the actual v2.0.1 upstream
+ source tree, esp. copyright years and licenses
+ stanza for files using the "contributors to the libzpc project" (MIT)
+
+ - debian/tests: autopkgtest added for both packages
+ - "zpckey": portable compose/show smoke test, runs on all architectures.
+ - "provider": hbkzpc OpenSSL provider load/registration smoke test,
+ s390x only (Architecture: s390x in d/tests/control, so it is cleanly
+ skipped elsewhere rather than failing).
+ Both tests have been verified to genuinely pass using real autopkgtest
+ tooling and runs, including a run of the "provider" test on actual
+ s390x hardware (not just amd64/emulated).
+
+ - Component: universe, matching the existing libzpc
+ libzpc2 is an optional package and not relevant at install time
+ (no MIR needed)
+
+ Source package
+ --------------
+ The source package (.dsc/.debian.tar.xz/.orig.tar.gz) is available from
+ the PPA:
+
+ __________
+
+
+ Due to major contributions and API rework, it made sense to switch to a new
version v2.0.0.
The new version v2 also contains a lot of cleanups and improvements, which
are not directly related to a specific line item.

  - ca0b91e98243c0d7004bfd806d673a9ddb3e4e27 ("New libzpc version 2.0.0")

libzpc v2.0.0 no longer provides the libzpc API as a shared library. The
functionality is no only available via OpenSSL and the Provider API.

For Stonking and follow on short-term releases, please provide packages for
both versions, libzpc v1.5.0 (libzpc) and libzpc v2.0.0 (libzpc2), especially
for Distribution release updates.
libzpc v1.5.0 (libzpc) can be dropped starting with the next LTS release
Ubuntu 28.04.
