Bug 2157634 and this one both suggest the Nvidia driver has different
pixel packing to what Mutter expects. The former was with Nvidia driver
580 on Ubuntu 24.04, and we still see similar problems here with Nvidia
driver 610 on Ubuntu 26.04.
This is not entirely unusual. I've seen cases where Nvidia breaks
because it's actually more strict about OpenGL compliance than Mesa and
all testing had been done on Mesa alone. At least it now seems like it
could be a Mutter bug rather than Nvidia's fault.
** Summary changed:
- GNOME Remote Login headless GDM shell crashes with NVIDIA 610
+ gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in libnvidia-eglcore.so.610.43.02 from
cogl_framebuffer_read_pixels_into_bitmap()
** Package changed: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) => mutter (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu)
Status: Incomplete => New
