Public bug reported:

The internal eDP panel goes permanently black after 2-3 hours of normal
uptime. The external monitor (on the NVIDIA dGPU) continues working.

Hardware: Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 (21Q8CTO1WW), Intel Arrow Lake-H.
i915 reports: "Found meteorlake (device ID 7d51) integrated display
version 14.00 stepping D0". Panel: AUO 0x2ea5, 3840x2400. BIOS 1.09
(N4EET23W), latest available.

First fault in dmesg, with nothing preceding it:
i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Timed out waiting for DP idle patterns
i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

At this point the kernel still reports eDP-1 as connected and enabled,
the backlight is on (intel_backlight 245/800, bl_power 0), and mutter
still lists the output as an active logical monitor. The panel simply
scans out black.

Steps to reproduce: boot, use the machine normally with an external
DisplayPort monitor attached via a Thunderbolt dock. Occurs after
roughly 2-3 hours. Observed on 3 of 3 days of use.

NOT suspend/resume related: one occurrence had no "PM: suspend entry"
anywhere in the boot's dmesg.

NOT PSR: reproduces with PSR disabled via
/sys/kernel/debug/dri/1/i915_edp_psr_debug.

Escalation: any subsequent modeset while in this state triggers
intel_dp_retrain_link -> intel_ddi_post_disable -> WARN at
intel_display.c:363 in intel_disable_transcoder ("pipe_off wait timed
out"), followed by endless "[CRTC:150:pipe A] flip_done timed out" at
~10s per atomic commit. gnome-shell then blocks uninterruptibly in
drm_mode_atomic_ioctl and cannot be killed even with SIGKILL,
requiring a hard power-off.

Kernels affected: 7.0.0-28-generic and 7.0.0-1009-oem (both 7.0 base).
6.17.0-35-generic not yet tested.

Possibly related: ACPI method \_SB.PC00.LPCB.EC.BRNS aborts with
AE_AML_PACKAGE_LIMIT (zero-length package), taking _Q26/_Q27 with it,
consistently within ~1 second of the display fault. Present in latest
firmware.
