This is a variant of bug #2133791 (ASUS ExpertBook P3 PM3406CKA, subsystem
1043:1454), which was fixed by a quirk added in kernel 6.17
(commit 0156c22fb0ca869381fe0520731da79f70389652).
My hardware is a different SKU of the same ExpertBook P3 series, with a
different subsystem ID that does not appear to be covered by that fix:
Hardware: ASUS ExpertBook PM3406CHA
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS
Codec: Realtek ALC256
Vendor Id: 0x10ec0256
Subsystem Id: 0x10431664 <-- different from 0x10431454 in bug #2133791
Ubuntu: 24.04.4 LTS
Kernel: 7.0.0-28-generic (linux-generic-hwe-24.04-edge, latest available)
Symptoms identical to #2133791:
- Internal speakers completely silent
- HDMI and Bluetooth audio work fine
- PipeWire/ALSA correctly detect and route to the sink (volume, mute,
port all correct), but no audible sound
- dmesg shows: "ALC256: picked fixup (pin match)" — empty fixup name,
meaning subsystem 1043:1664 is not matched in alc269_fixup_tbl
Given the existing fix for 1043:1454 confirms this is a quirk-table issue
rather than a hardware fault, could the same/similar quirk be extended to
cover subsystem 1043:1664 as well?
