Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 26.04 Resolute, GTK 4 applications show untranslated
accelerator key labels in Catalan. For example, Nautilus context menus
show “Shift” instead of the expected Catalan “Maj”.

This does not appear to be a missing upstream GTK translation. Upstream
GTK gtk-4-22 po/ca.po contains the expected Catalan keyboard-label
translations, for example:

  msgctxt "keyboard label"
  msgid "Shift"
  msgstr "Maj"

  msgctxt "keyboard label"
  msgid "Super"
  msgstr "Súper"

  msgctxt "keyboard label"
  msgid "KP"
  msgstr "TN"

However, Ubuntu/Rosetta’s gtk4 template appears to be missing these
messages.

  Checked in Launchpad/Rosetta:

  Ubuntu Resolute
  source package: gtk4
  template: gtk40
  language: Catalan

  Search results:
  - search=Shift: “There are no messages that match this filtering.”
  - search=BackSpace: “There are no messages that match this filtering.”
  - search=gtkaccelgroup: “There are no messages that match this filtering.”

Local installed catalog confirms the same issue:

  /usr/share/locale-langpack/ca/LC_MESSAGES/gtk40.mo

This catalog has no msgctxt "keyboard label" entries.

By comparison, the GTK 3 Catalan catalog does contain the expected
entry:

  /usr/share/locale-langpack/ca/LC_MESSAGES/gtk30.mo

  msgctxt "keyboard label"
  msgid "Shift"
  msgstr "Maj"

  Expected result:
GTK 4 applications should display Catalan accelerator labels, e.g. “Maj”
instead of “Shift”.

  Actual result:
GTK 4 applications display English accelerator labels, e.g. “Shift”.

  Request:
Please regenerate or reimport the Ubuntu/Rosetta gtk40 POT/template for gtk4.
It appears incomplete compared with upstream GTK and is missing the GTK
keyboard-label strings.

  Optional extra system info:

  gtk4 package: libgtk-4-1 4.22.4+ds-0ubuntu0.1
  language-pack-gnome-ca-base: 1:26.04+20260417
  nautilus: 1:50.0-0ubuntu2

** Affects: gtk4 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
