After upgrading the following packages on August 3, 2026:
mutter-common 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.15 -> 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.16
mutter-common-bin 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.15 -> 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.16
libmutter-14-0 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.15 -> 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.16
drag-and-drop stopped working on a specific web application in both
Firefox and Google Chrome.
The problem also occurs:
- in Chrome Incognito mode
- with fresh browser profiles
- in both Firefox and Chrome
Drag-and-drop still works on other websites and inside the desktop file
manager.
The issue occurs in the default Ubuntu Wayland session.
After logging out and selecting “Ubuntu on Xorg”, drag-and-drop works again
immediately.
Expected:
Drag-and-drop should work in the Wayland session as it did with mutter
46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.15.
Actual:
The drop operation is not recognized in the affected web application under
Wayland.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Log in using the Ubuntu Wayland session.
2. Open the affected web application in Firefox or Chrome.
3. Attempt the drag-and-drop operation.
4. Log out and switch to Ubuntu on Xorg.
5. Repeat the same operation; it works.
