@mruffell, I've sent an email to the mailing list about this unmaintained package in Debian; there's not any response yet from Debian.

Or, more conservatively, outright reject this. I obviously would prefer the former as it does affect existing user(s) as described in the bug report. But I'd defer to the decision of the SRU team.
