with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 (GA107) hybrid/Optimus graphics.
Kernel: 7.0.0-29-generic (issue not yet confirmed on 7.0.0-28-generic, testing
in progress)
Ubuntu: 26.04 (dual-boot with Windows)
Problem:
On boot and after suspend/resume (including lid-close), the internal eDP
display frequently shows a black screen for 1-5 minutes before recovering
to the lock screen. The system is not actually frozen - the display link
is failing to reinitialize.
Relevant kernel log at boot:

Also present (may be unrelated, HP ACPI firmware bugs):
ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [^^RP28.PXSX.WIST],
AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI BIOS Error (bug): AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT, Index (0x000000032) is
beyond end of object (length 0x32)
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot the system, or suspend via lid-close/idle timeout
2. Resume by opening lid or pressing a key
3. Screen remains black despite input; system is responsive underneath
4. After 1-5 minutes, or occasionally a forced shutdown is needed, the
lock screen appears and the system works normally afterward
Troubleshooting already attempted (no fix):
- i915.enable_psr=0 kernel parameter — no change
- mem_sleep_default=deep — has no effect, /sys/power/mem_sleep only
offers s2idle on this hardware
- NVIDIA suspend/resume/hibernate systemd services confirmed already
enabled
- NVIDIA driver version 595.84
Expected behavior: eDP panel should reliably re-link on boot and after
suspend/resume without extended black screen or requiring forced
shutdown.
