Aug 9th note: I should add that the above script was working well with kernel 7.0.0-28-generic as well as previous kernels, but with the newest kernel 7.0.0-29-generic this script has to execute about every 5 minutes, it still works but I've reverted to using 7.0.0-28-generic as it only has to execute once or twice over extended uptime. Also perhaps due to recent system updates my most recent boot into 7.0.0-28-generic has been up for 18 hours so far without the script executing at all, so far...
