The options I configured are in the permanent GRUB configuration file: `/etc/default/grub` The relevant settings are: `GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden` `GRUB_TIMEOUT=0` I did not edit a temporary GRUB configuration file. The problem is that the GRUB menu unexpectedly reappears after shutting down the computer, even though these settings are still present. In some cases, I found that `/boot/grub/grubenv` had `recordfail=1`, and running: `sudo grub-editenv /boot/grub/grubenv unset recordfail` followed by: `sudo update-grub` made the GRUB menu hidden again. Ubuntu 26.04 is the only operating system installed on this PC. I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you need any additional details or command output.
