  The newest version of the 'linux-firmware' package on my "HP ZBook Fury
- 16 G11 Mobile Workstation PC" with discrete NVIDIA GPU running Ubuntu
+ 16 G11 Mobile Workstation PC" with discrete NVIDIA GPU[1] running Ubuntu
  24.04 with nouveau drivers on X causes the boot process to hang as GDM
  continuously fails to initialize.  Downgrading to an older version of
  'linux-firmware' (see above) resolves the issue.  Booting to the
  integrated (Intel) GPU works around the issue.
  
  Attached is what I believe to be the most relevant section of the system
  logs (via 'journalctl') and 3 GDM initialization failures as well as a
  picture of my device when the error is observed.
