Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xubuntu-live
Booting from the 7.10 version of Xubuntu on my sony vaio PCG-SRX87
laptop failed because of the wrong screen resolution set by the intel
driver. When booting up from live CD the initial bootsplash screen
appears but after a while the screen goes blank. To fix it (and to
enable DRI) I had to press CTRL + ALT + F1 to go to the command prompt
and:
sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
select intel driver
select 16384 KB of video memory
use kernel framebuffer
resolution 1024 x 768
16 bit depth
then sudo killall Xorg from the command line
check that dri was enabled in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log
This gave me a usable screen to work with. But, after the install the
libgl1-mesa-dri package is removed. Weird! Therefore I had to reinstall
it to get DRI to work. Please let me know what other information you
need to debug the problem.
