Public bug reported:
This package is designed to allow co-installation of multiple major
compiler versions, similar to vanilla clang/llvm in the Ubuntu archive.
The versioned paths (e.g. /usr/bin/dpclang-6) already namespace
correctly, but the package also ships unversioned binaries and man pages
that would collide when two major versions are installed on the same
host:
Binaries (symlinks): /usr/bin/dpclang, /usr/bin/dpclang++,
/usr/bin/dpclang-cpp, /usr/bin/dpclang-cl, /usr/bin/dpsycl-ls
Man pages (real files): /usr/share/man/man1/dpclang.1.gz,
/usr/share/man/man1/dpsycl-ls.1.gz
Man pages (symlinks): /usr/share/man/man1/dpclang++.1.gz,
/usr/share/man/man1/dpclang-cpp.1.gz, /usr/share/man/man1/dpclang-cl.1.gz
These unversioned paths should be managed by update-alternatives (master
link dpclang with the others as slaves, version-increasing priorities)
so multiple compilers can co-install and users can select the default.
Because a package-owned static symlink and an alternatives-managed link
cannot safely share the same path, every co-installable version —
including v6 — must adopt alternatives; hence this change is applied to
v6 as well, not only to newer versions.
