Public bug reported:

Hardware: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT (Navi 21, 1002:73a5)
Monitor: Samsung CRG9, 5120x1440 @ 120 Hz via DisplayPort (requires DSC)
System: Ubuntu 24.04 (noble), kernel 6.8.0-137-generic

After upgrading linux-firmware from 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.27
to ...-0ubuntu2.29, the right half of the display shows corruption
(solid red or vertical stripes, varying per boot). The same happens
on HDMI: the low-res boot framebuffer is fine, but the display goes
black once amdgpu loads. Windows on the same machine, cable and port
is unaffected.

No errors appear in dmesg. xrandr reports "link-status: Good", EDID
is parsed, and the mode is set. dmesg only shows
"[drm] DSC precompute is not needed."

The CRG9 is internally two 2560x1440 panel halves, which matches the
symptom: the second half receives no valid stream.

Downgrading to 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.26 fixes the issue
completely. Note that 2.27 is no longer available in the archive.

Booting an older kernel (6.8.0-136) does NOT help, which points to
the firmware blobs rather than the kernel.
