Hello everyone,

Find below an update to this bug that includes recent events in response
to @Matthew's directive with recent events and input from Technical
Board members, Security, Kernel and Archive Admins.

1) Restoring the nvidia-graphics-drivers-470 DKMS package, unsigned
kernel package will happen imminently.

2) Ubuntu's Security Team position is that we should not re-enable
linux-modules-nvidia-470-generic signed drivers. For restoring
functionality, the DKMS package should suffice. The reasoning behind
this is that we should not be signing code which has known security
vulnerabilities. We do know that the code base is essentially the same
in all of their drivers, and the newer ones have had serious security
issues.

3) There is recognition that transitioning the EOL branches could have a
better user experience. The Kernel team will take on preparing an
update/addendum to the NVIDIA Exception policy where we describe the EOL
experience and expectations in the Ubuntu documentation and submit it
for review in the next few months.

4) After these meetings happen, I will update the Discourse post with
current information.
