Public bug reported: Putting just "set -u" into a .bash_profile hangs a Session: Lubuntu login (and most others, too) because X11 scripts fail to handle unset variables properly.
I can't find a way to attach my original sddm bug report to the multiple packages causing the problem, so I'm putting pointers into all the packages causing the problem. While it is sddm that is hanging without visible errors, and that should be fixed, it is multiple underlying packages that contain the shell errors that cause sddm to hang: im-config, libatk-adaptor, x11-common See: Title: "set -u" in .bash_profile prevents Lubuntu login: unbound variables URL: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sddm/+bug/2161486 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: at-spi2-atk (Ubuntu) => xorg (Ubuntu) ** Description changed: Putting just "set -u" into a .bash_profile hangs a Session: Lubuntu login (and most others, too) because X11 scripts fail to handle unset variables properly.
