I also tested the wallet directly through the KWallet D-Bus API, bypassing KWallet Manager. The wallet opened successfully and returned a valid wallet handle. I successfully created a test folder, wrote an encrypted test password, and read the password back successfully. The test value "hello123" was returned correctly. This demonstrates that the wallet can be opened, written to, and read from successfully through kwalletd6 despite the KWallet Manager GUI failure. I also see: g_dbus_proxy_get_object_path: assertion 'G_IS_DBUS_PROXY (proxy)' failed Bitwarden, which uses KWallet through D-Bus, has also reported org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply errors when calling KWallet methods. Additionally, when selecting GPG encryption in KWallet Manager, the application reports that no suitable GPG keys exist / that there are no keys available for securing the wallet. I have not established whether this is related to the KWallet Manager GUI problem. The important distinction is that direct D-Bus access to the wallet works correctly, while the KWallet Manager GUI/prompt path does not.
