This bug can simply be reproduced by copying a bare 400MB git repository with 6800 files inside from an NVME (ext4) to an USB HDD drive (NTFS) using nemo.

Whether this causes data corruption (outside of the files that were being transferred) I don't know, but so far nothing appears bricked (yet).
