Public bug reported: The `su` and `sudo` rust coreutils (located at `/usr/lib/cargo/bin`) in Stonking (26.10) daily builds from August 24 and 25 lack the setuid flag, so they are completely useless. This bug happens both in the Live session and in the installed system. The daily build from August 23 is fine. Resolute ISO from August 25 looks fine too.
The .deb package from the repositories seem fine too (manually downloaded and uncompressed it; the binaries have the setuid flag set). The bug is in the Desktop ISO (http://ftp.cdimage.ubuntu.com/cdimage/ubuntu/stonking/daily- live/20260824/ and http://ftp.cdimage.ubuntu.com/cdimage/ubuntu/stonking/daily- dangerous/20260825/ ). The one from August 23 (http://ftp.cdimage.ubuntu.com/cdimage/ubuntu/stonking/daily- live/20260823/ ) is fine. ** Affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2165041 Title: Missing setuid flag in su and sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/2165041/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
