1. A statement explaining the impact. If a user is sending an email with an rfc822/message attachment. The e-mail is received by dovecot but the attachment is empty. This caused by a bug in dovecot that we ship for dapper.
2. How the bug has been addressed. The dovecot developers have already addressed this in their VCS (http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot/rev/0e7a9b0aa8c3). It has been fixed in v1.0.beta4 (which is also fixed for hardy). To fix this issue in dapper, I have backported the patch for the version that we use in dapper (v1.0beta3) called 101-fix-message- rfc822-parts.dpatch. I have tested locally and it was working as expected. Send an email with an attachment and I get the expected results. 3. Patch A debdiff has been provided which fixes this issue has been attched. 4. Instructions to reproduce TEST CASE: 1. Send an email with an attachment (ie: exe) to yourself. 2. Check to see if the attachment is still there. 5. A discussion of the potential regression.
