Given that this breakage impacts all usage of sub-second resolution usage of "date" (other than if explicit nanosecond is requested), could this fix perhaps be implemented and applied to the "stable?!" Ubuntu 26.04 LTS release as soon as possible given that it does exists upstream.
As far as I can see in the Ubuntu package for the "stable" (not so stable it turned out) long-term support 26.04 is NOT yet fixed!? and having just encountered this issue myself I am a bit shocked that the transition to Rust implementation of coreutils progressed this far without first having proper checks in place to ensure the interface of functions like "date" did not break... (PS.
