Public bug reported:
Hello,
I recently updated remmina to 1.4.43+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.2 and lost the
ability to install plugins. It looks like the latest Ubuntu update
brought in a patch from Debian (do-not-phone-home.patch) that caused a
regression.
The Debian patch removes phone home server connections but also removes
ability to see and install additional plugins. The comment in the patch
says that all remmina plugins are available from apt packages but this
is not true for some remmina plugins that are only available for install
through the app. I can no longer see those plugins after updating to
1.4.43+dfsg-0ubuntu0.24.04.2.
Looking at the Debian patch, uncommenting the line in
src/remmina_plugin_manager.c that the patch comments out (or removing
that patch section) should fix this while still removing phone home
server connections
